Ahead of Andy Murray’s charity event at the SSE Hydro in Edinburgh, Under Armour invited us to join them for a tennis clinic. Obviously we jumped at the chance and ventured from one end of Great Britain to the other.
Andy was on great form this day, excited for two reasons… His charity event of course but little did we know his wife Kim went into labour during the event and later that evening their first child entered the world.
It was clinic itself was fast and furious… 15 minutes of 1on1 with Andy and then a some time after catching B-Roll and general footage. Again Andy was perhaps the happiest I’d seen him and for a change very easy to interview. Watch the video above for proof!
The event itself went well, before hand we had media access to the player interviews where Andy and Roger Federer took turns fielding questions from the audience. After we were all invited to get shots of them hitting a few balls and posing for the camera… This is where we sore our chance!
Having predicted that Roger Federer would be there and with a two days before the launch of his new Nike x Jordan Vapors collab… I just happen to have the shoes with me! The perfect opportunity arose as Roger came over to change rackets next to where I stood… Simply saying ‘Hello’ to Roger kicked it off as I asked him if there was chance of signing these shoes…
Ahhhh cool you have these ones already!?! Are they even out yet? – Roger Federer at the SSE Hydro
So he grabbed our pen and signed away whilst I nervously looked on. Passing the shoes back to me and saying… “It was a pleasure to meet you” I just stood there like an idiot not knowing what to say to that other than shaking his hand and saying, “No, the pleasure was mine!” CHEEEEEESSSSSEEEE! Still haven’t washed my hand since 🙂
